<p>If you can start your yoga experience with some simple yoga exercises for beginners and keep practicing you will soon get a taste of this wonderful discipline. Then you can decide if joining a class is for you. Jumping straight into a class can sometimes be intimidating and a little basic knowledge never hurt anyone.</p>
<p>The Child’s Pose</p>
<p>The child’s pose is one of the essential yoga exercises for beginners that you should learn. It’s very easy to do and it’s also a great way to rest between exercises if you get tired during a workout. It will help to stretch out your spine and help you rest while still performing a yoga pose. </p>
<p>Start in a kneeling position, your knees should be spread wide apart, as wide as your mat. At the same time your big toes should touch. Bring your torso down so that your belly rests on your thighs. Your forehead should be touching the ground. </p>
<p>The best way to start this position if you are a beginner is to have your arms stretching forward with the palms touching the ground. Another variation you can practice is to have your arms behind you alongside your body with the palms facing upwards. It does not matter which arm position you use, use the one that feels comfortable. </p>
<p>Downward Facing Dog</p>
<p>The downward facing dog is one of the most essential yoga exercises for beginners. It is used in many yoga routines in between exercises. It will help you to rest when you are transitioning from one pose to another. It’s also a great exercise to do. </p>
<p>You need to be on the floor on your hands and knees. Alignment is very important when you are doing the downward facing dog. Your knees should be directly underneath hips.  Your hands will be a little in front of your shoulders, so not totally underneath them.</p>
<p>Next you want to exhale and lift your knees keeping them slightly bent, your heels will be a little in the air. You want to feel a lengthening in the spine and legs. Exhale again and push your heels into the ground, don’t worry if you can’t do this just yet. Your knees should be straight but not tightly locked. </p>
<p>Your arms should stretch out and press into the ground. Your body should form an inverted V. Hold this as long as it’s comfortable and then you can go into the child’s pose. These two yoga exercises for beginners will really help you out when you are learning yoga for the first time.</p>

<p>If you are a person who is looking for a fun way to get into shape you should take a look at power yoga.  I tried many different programs from Pilates classes to aerobics and everything in between but nothing really worked.  Then I saw an ad for Prana power yoga.  From the first class I knew I had found what I was looking for as far as a workout routine is concerned.  Five years later I am in great shape and have a whole new group of friends.  It was the classes and the school I have to thank for getting me to this point.</p>
<p>Who And What Is Prana Power Yoga?</p>
<p>The key for me was how Prana power yoga’s beginner classes made me feel totally comfortable and not at all awkward.  For many people getting into a new thing can be difficult and for most this is more than half the battle.  Home workouts work well, and while some power yoga DVD’s do wonderful things, there is nothing like a real class at Prana power yoga.  Their qualified instructors made me feel right at home from the first class.  They even offer a class in Pilates power yoga, something I was vaguely familiar with.</p>
<p>Before my first class I was given shown everything Prana has to offer.  I knew nothing about yoga but the people from Prana power yoga carefully explained everything I saw and answered all of my questions. After the tour my first class began.  I was amazed at how quick paced it was yet I felt perfectly comfortable.  I began sweating profusely but the instructors informed me that it was normal and even desired and detoxifying.</p>
<p>Another great thing about the program at Prana power yoga is that the class fees are reasonable and there are no special equipment requirements.  Other health clubs and classes can charges costly monthly fees.  You need to bring your own water, towel, a sticky yoga mat and an open mind.  You are then ready to go.</p>
<p>As you can see Prana power yoga is a great place to go if you are looking to get into yoga.  They offer great benefits for beginners and experts alike.  The best thing is that I will never have to go to another health club.  I have developed long lasting friendships with many people I take classes with, because we all keep coming back.  You should check out Prana power yoga for yourself and see if it is what you have been looking for.</p>

<p>One of my favorite instructors is Rodney Lee.  His voice is incredibly calm and he has a presence that just makes you feel like you are doing the right thing.  He is an expert and has videos at all levels so you can literally start and work yourself all the up with his instructional videos.  Another great option is the works from Prana power yoga.  They have some great material to help with your yoga progression.</p>
<p>There are many options available to you when looking for a power yoga DVD.  There are a couple things you need to keep in mind when shopping for a DVD, but they can be a great addition to class work or even if just used alone.  Luckily most DVD’s cost only around twenty dollars so buying one will not break the bank.</p>

<p>Core power yoga is based on power yoga, which is in turn based on the Ashtanga style of yoga.  This style is a vigorous form of yoga that is meant to give you a full body workout improving your strength and flexibility at the same time.  Core power yoga heals and stimulates the body and mind through meditation and intense exercise.</p>
<p>How Does Core Power Yoga Work?</p>
<p>Core power yoga works through three different levels.  The first is the physical level that focuses on developing your endurance as well as flexibility.  This first level is a combination of intense workouts and extreme stretches.  The second level uses mental power to focus your will and desire.  Meditation and other methods are used to tune your mind and keep it sharp.  The third level is the spiritual level, which supports the first two.  Exercises in core power yoga seek to strengthen all three of these areas.</p>
<p>The style comes from Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, an acclaimed Ashtanga yoga instructor whose style was brought and adopted in the U.S. as power yoga.  Within this style are three basic programs.  The first, called core power yoga is designed to strengthen the abdominal and back muscles.  This program includes elements of Vinyasa, or the more commonly known yoga, for increasing muscle tone and flexibility.  The next program, unlocking athletic power, will develop strength and focuses on abs, back, hips and pelvis.  The third and final program is soul of strength and this is a fast moving power yoga program with an emphasis on your mind as well as body.  This last program has some extremely challenging moves in it and is not for the novice or weak yoga student.</p>
<p>Most of these exercises are done within a heated room and focus on developing strength, endurance, as well as improving the ability to concentrate, release stress and tensions while eliminating toxins through heaving sweating.   Throughout the process the practitioner will carry out the poses of yoga, however with core power yoga they are done at a very brisk pace.  Some poses will be held longer to increase stamina and your mental focus.</p>

<p>Power Yoga As Alternate Exercise</p>
<p>Power yoga is the vigorous fitness based version of regular style yoga.   The regular normal kind of yoga is the Vinyasa style.  Power yoga is closely modeled on the Ashtanga style of practice and the name came about because yoga instructors were looking to make the Ashtanga style more accessible to western practitioners.  While power yoga is based on Ashtanga there are some definite differences.  Ashtanga has set a series of poses, whereas power yoga does not.  This leads to a lot of variations in the classes that are offered.  All of these classes focus on increasing the student’s strength and flexibility.  Because of this many people now see yoga as a form of exercise and not just meditation.  People began to seek out classes looking for a fun alternative to simple aerobics.</p>
<p>This form of yoga is credited as being founded by two people.  Beryl Bender Birch and Bryan Kest both came up with similar styles around the same time.  They were both students of Ashtanga and actually shared the same instructor.  Another person influential in the more exercise version of yoga is Baron Baptiste who teaches his own version and only allows it to be taught by teachers he certifies.  The term power yoga was used so that people would know the difference between the stretching and meditation style from the intense flowing style.</p>

<p>Then bring your hands up so that they are under your shoulders and are flat on the floor, palms down. Your elbows will be bent. Inhale and bring your head up slowly. Use your arms to push you off the ground so that the upper half of your body is in the air. This is one of the yoga positions for beginners that does not involve the lower half of your body. Make sure your hips are still on the ground. </p>
<p>Now you need to exhale completely and breathe a few breaths. Now you can lift your hips and straighten out your arms. Now you need to hold this position for several more breaths. When you come to a third or fourth exhalation start to lower your body to the ground. Reversing the movements so that you come back to the ground again.</p>
<p>When you are coming out of these yoga positions for beginners you should be sure to do it very slowly so that you can actually feel your spine unfurling one vertebrate at a time. Your forehead should be the last thing that touches the ground. You can repeat this position again a few more times. Three more repetitions should be sufficient for you to master one of the yoga positions for beginners. You can slowly add more positions each day. </p>

<p>Learning to cope with stress is difficult. Putting something out of your mind completely is extremely hard and your stress only seems to get worse. If you have difficulty dealing with stress then you could benefit from yoga lessons that will help you with managing stress and relieving stress. </p>
<p>These exercises are designed to help you concentrate on your breathing and to loosen up your muscles. When a person is stressed they often find that they have a lot of tension in the shoulders and neck. Use these stress relieving yoga lessons to find some calm and learn to breathe a little easier. </p>
<p>The Palm Press Position</p>
<p>A great exercise you can do to relieve stress is the palm press position. You don’t need extensive yoga lessons to perform this simple position. First sit on the floor. Sit with your legs crossed, one tucked inside touching the inner thigh of the other leg and the other on the outside on top of your inner leg’s ankle. </p>
<p>Press your palms together with your elbows 90 degrees from the floor. A straight line should extend from each of your elbows to the ground. Inhale deeply and twist to the right, the twist should come from your core not your neck or shoulders. Twist so that you can see over your right shoulder. Hold your breath and count to three while in this position.</p>
<p>Then exhale and twist to the left and hold for another three seconds. Then inhale and come back to the starting position. Start all over again but this time you should start from the left. Repeat this position so that you have completed two twists on each side. You should feel more relaxed in your spine and core. </p>
<p>Upward Arms</p>
<p>Yoga positions for beginners are often seemingly simple but they do a good job of laying foundations for more complex positions. Another great position you can learn without many yoga lessons is an upward arm stretch. Start as in the same position as the palm press position.</p>
<p>Raise your arms into the air. As you bring them down bend your elbows and clasp your hands behind your head and keep the elbows bent. You should now bend your elbows backwards and feel all your muscles working. </p>
<p>Then inhale and raise your arms upwards and clasp your hands so that your palms are facing upwards. Now exhale and bring your arms down and clasp your hands behind your head again. Do this three more time. These easy yoga lessons will help you feel better whenever you start to stress. </p>
